1 week on...

Good evening fellow yoga babies, intermediates and superstars, it’s been a week and a fairly busy one at that! One that hasn’t allowed a lot of time for crazy dedicated yoga practice but there has been some main poses snuck into my routine. As most of you will know if you’re familiar with England and its current weather situation, you will know we are having a super-hot wave of weather, perfect for outside yoga, so bad for my Casper (the friendly ghost) skin, ouch! I’m finding natural yoghurt is so good for soothing the burn, wouldn’t say no to a bath in aloe vera though!

On the yoga front I’ve found an awesome Tara Stiles Weight Loss for beginners podcast, great for my baby muscles and to practice some of the core moves for yoga, definitely needing to stretch out my calves some more, anyone has any tips? Please help! There is still no progress on the yoga mat situation I think I put the money from that into singing my heart out to my local fake fest and face paint fiasco this weekend...

I have been advised to purchase some yoga blocks though apparently they’re great for getting into those hard to do first poses, especially if, like me, a low lunge sends you heading face first towards the ground.

So not the most productive first week but there is little determination lost and I’ve just completed a nice 20minute work out, keep me posted yogi babes J

Baby yogi, welcome blog.

So as the name suggest I am a baby yogi, I’ve actually been practicing yoga for the past 10months but like with anything new that you love you try and master it all at once, so I’ve had many a bruised shin from tumbling over sideways or pulled muscle from thinking I was the latest contortionist! This is why I’ve decided to take it back to basics because my skill level now is pretty much the same as 10months ago, in fact as soon as I bend into a ‘downward facing dog’ I’m pretty sure my muscles shrink in fear… oh dear. In taking it from the start I intend to go where all brave yogi's dream to go... onto my head with my legs in the air.

Now I’m a big fan of motivational quotes, inspiring pictures and reaching your goals, however I am also the master of procrastination and justifying putting off yoga for an extra 15minutes pillow time! This is why I am inviting you to join my journey, follow for as long or as little as you please and join in by all means. But please excuse my rusty blog writing skills and my little ramblings while I get used to this whole process, hopefully we’ll all get along in the end, cos' as a wise man once said 'you're only as young as your spine is flexible'.
I know everyone has their reasons for going into yoga and I am continuously finding more but the main one really has to be that I seem to think… a lot. Now a lot of this time I spend thinking is not necessarily good or structured, I like to call it spontaneous thinking, sometimes my brain gets away from me and before I know it I’m thinking of how possible it would be for me to have super powers to never get hurt again, or fighting against some dream problem that hasn’t even happened yet. In my head I can be a pretty negative person and although I haven’t managed to wrap my legs behind my head yet yoga has taught me that sometimes it’s nice not to think. And breathe... it's good to breathe.

It is safe to say I am not armed with the best starting equipment, I have no yoga mat and I currently practice in the space the size of large box on carpet that seems intent on making my feet itch, but never fear I do have a little book and a gazillion podcasts by Tara Stiles and crazy, mad determination to make this work!! So what do you say, you in?
